We’re excited to announce our next season, spotlighting theatre in translation and women in theatre!
Leading the season is the UK and English language premiere of Black Swans by Christina Kettering, translated from German by Pauline Wick (a mentorship alumna). This timely production delves into the intersection of AI and healthcare, and the complexities of caregiving, all through the lens of female experiences.
For the first time since before the pandemic, we (Camila & Trine) are returning to our roots as actors and while we’re filled with excitement, a hint of nervousness lingers. Fortunately, we’re guided by the incredible Ria Samartzi, our long-standing collaborator and dear friend, who is directing.
Black Swans will be performing at the Omnibus Theatre (Lambeth) from Tuesday 23 April to Saturday 11 May 2024. Tickets are on sale now with an Early Bird offer of 25% off running until Thursday 7 March, using BS24EARLYBIRD.
But wait, there’s more! 🎭
Our season is not just about performances – we’re passionate about empowering and nurturing emerging artists and creatives. We’re proud to offer diverse creative learning activities designed to support theatre-makers and translators at the start of their career, as well as young people.
Also happening this season:
- Our pioneering Theatre Translator Mentorship programme, now in its 6th edition and generously supported by the Jerwood Foundation, will be opening for applications on Tuesday 12 March. In the meantime, we’ll add lots of resources to the programme to help you with your application. For more details, click here.
- And for our Hackney-based emerging creatives (aged 18-30), dive into our popular theatre-making workshops where you’ll have the chance to collaborate with industry professionals and sharpen your skills, all made possible with the support of Hackney Council. Details to be announced shortly, but discover more here.
- And that’s not all! In collaboration with Performing International Plays, we continue to bring the magic of theatre into secondary schools with engaging workshops exploring international plays, including local schools in Hackney. You can read all about our partnership here.
Stay tuned to our social media channels for more details and how to get involved. We look forward to welcoming you in the near future, for more theatre beyond borders!
