We’re excited to announce our Spring/Summer Season, which celebrates women in theatre, science and history!

March

We kick off the season with two rehearsed readings of The Earth’s Core by Simone Isabel Nørgaard, translated from the Danish by Paul Russell Garrett, at the Rose Lipman Building, Wednesday 22 & Thursday 23 March.

In 1936 Inge Lehmann solves one of science’s great mysteries about the Earth’s inner core. Lehmann devotes her life to science but as a woman scientist never receives proper recognition for her massive discovery and contributions. The Earth’s Core (2020) brings Lehmann’s story to life, in a play about women and science in the early twentieth century.

We’re thrilled to once again team up with Batch Baby (the Rose Lipman coffee shop) who’ll be serving up Danish-style smørrebrød with an east London flair. We can’t wait!

Tickets are strictly limited, so book now!!

The readings will coincide with an industry event hosted by the Danish Embassy in London on Thursday 23 March from 14:30 to 16:30. The event will present an extract from the play, followed by a panel discussion on producing, publishing & performing theatre in translation, chaired by indefatigable Daniel Hahn.

If you’re a theatre professional and would like to attend the event, drop us a line at team@foreignaffairs.org.uk.

April – June

Next up is a jam-packed creative learning programme for theatre-makers, translators, and young people, including:

1. In-person and online translation workshops for translators and theatre-makers with language skills interested in translating for the stage.

2. Another edition of our popular ‘Make theatre with …’ workshop programme for Hackney-based young people, which will be led by the multi-talented Maria Laumark.

3. Plus a very exciting partnership bringing our work into secondary schools and colleges, to share our passion for theatre in translation!

Keep an eye on our social media channels for more details and how to sign up.

July – August

We can’t reveal these plans just yet – we’re dying to, honestly! But keep your fingers and toes crossed – we’ll need it, as we plan to leap into our thirteenth year.

We look forward to welcoming you in the near future, for more theatre beyond borders!
