Every month we share our upcoming plans as well as offer insights into our hopes and dreams for the future. We hope you enjoy!

Although February is the shortest month of the year, it seemed to drag on forever, with long days spent in front of screens, a severe case of post-show blues following our January translation showcase, and increasing lock-down fatigue. And truth be told, we’re happy to see the end of it.

Determined to shake off the winter gloom, we kickstarted March with the launch of our workshop programme on political theatre for emerging young theatre-makers, facilitated by feminist theatre-maker and director Nastazja Domaradzka. Just what the doctor ordered! Inspired by young people who are committed to shaking things up and challenging the status quo, we can’t help but feel hopeful about the future of theatre!

In addition to our ongoing artist development programmes for theatre translators and practitioners, we’re also excited to start a new creative internship. Since 2014 we’ve been running internships for emerging theatre-makers specifically aimed at womxn, offering insights into the nuts and bolts of running a small theatre company and our creative processes. Over the years the majority of our interns have come to us via the Erasmus+ scheme, which the UK was part of up until its departure from Europe. Since our first internship, we’ve had the pleasure of working with theatre-makers from Italy, Portugal and Hungary, as a well as from the UK.

We’re spending most of March planning our next production(s), which were put on hold as a consequence of the pandemic, and we’re keeping fingers and toes – everything really – crossed in the hope that live theatre can resume in the not so distant future. We’re dying to get back into the rehearsal room, into our basement at the Rose Lipman Building where the magic happens, but for the time being we continue to embrace the digital world, exploring how digital technologies can become part of our practice beyond the coronavirus crisis.

So with spring just around the corner and its longer and brighter days filled with new beginnings, we continue to look ahead with optimism and positivity. One thing we keep dreaming off is a summer residency with our ensemble that will allow us to dive deeper into our artistic practice and spend time with people we haven’t seen in person for over a year.

How about you? How is your spring looking? Let us know by connecting with us on social media or drop us a line as we’re always happy to meet for a cup of coffee in the Land of Zoom.
