in association with Jermyn Street Theatre

Join us on a whistle-stop tour of Chile, Japan, Kenya and Sweden to discover theatre that crosses borders and connects cultures!

We’re excited to present four brand-new translations developed during the sixth edition of our Theatre Translator Mentorship programme, supported by the Jerwood Foundation. Since its launch in 2016, the programme has supported 19 emerging theatre translators, bringing fresh voices from around the world to UK stages and beyond.

For one day only, hosted by the wonderful Jermyn Street Theatre, we’ll present two unique showcases featuring groundbreaking plays from Chile, Japan, Kenya, and Sweden – all performed in English for the very first time!

  • The afternoon showcase is tailored for industry professionals but is open to anyone curious about the craft of theatre translation.
  • The evening showcase is perfect for friends, family, and anyone with a passion for global theatre and storytelling.

What’s in store:

  • Four play readings (20-minute extracts) performed by an international ensemble.
  • A 30-minute post-show panel offering a behind-the-scenes look at the art of theatre translation.

The readings and panel discussion will last around two hours, and after that, we’ll keep things informal. If you’re up for it, stick around for 30-45 minutes of relaxed conversation and connection – chat with fellow theatre-lovers, creatives, and everyone involved.

We can’t wait to see you there!
Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner, a curious newcomer, or just someone who loves the magic of theatre, come along to celebrate theatre in translation. This is a space for everyone—bring your curiosity and questions!
