We are finally catching our breath as we head into May.

2026 has been full – The Stage International Award, a Playground Residency hosting emerging playwrights from Serbia and Romania, an Education Expo with our partners Performing International Plays, and our Playwriting from Estonia Showcase at Jermyn Street Theatre. We’re a bit wiped, but loving every moment.

What’s felt particularly meaningful is going straight from an awards ceremony back into the kind of work we were recognised for – championing theatre in translation and the cross-cultural collaboration that makes it possible.

We’re also taking time to breathe and reflect. We hit our fifteen-year mark last year, and reflection has been a theme ever since. We know the landscape is hard right now – for artists, for companies, for everyone trying to sustain a creative practice. We’re feeling that too. So alongside the exciting projects, we’re working quietly with a group of Associate Artists to look honestly at our practice and imagine the next phase of Foreign Affairs.

As part of that process, we’re opening our doors.

On Tuesday 5 May, we’re hosting two sessions – both offer a chance to get inside our practice through practical exercises and honest reflection. If you joined any of our sessions last year, think of these as a continuation – and if you’re new to Foreign Affairs, this is a good place to start.

Theatre Translation Lab: Open Sessions
Led by Trine and joined by Associate Artists and translators Charis Ainslie and Paul Russell Garrett, this is an open, practical lab session on translating for the stage – beginning with an exercise and opening up to your questions and challenges.

Coffee Chats with Team FA
An open conversation about what it really means to make theatre, run a company, and sustain a creative practice. Come and catch up with us and Associate Artists Eugenia Low and Ria Samartzi.

Read more about the two sessions below. Both sessions are free. Spaces are limited.

We hope to see you there.

stay connected

We usually send out one newsletter a month – unless we’re in the thick of a project, in which case you might hear from us a little more often. It’s a personal update from Camila and Trine, with stories, news, and what’s inspiring us right now.

You can also find us on X, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. While we do share updates there, social media isn’t always our top priority – the newsletter is where we keep things most consistent and personal.

We use both to share upcoming opportunities for theatre-makers and translators – along with new projects, events, and other ways to get involved.
