Foreign Affairs is based at the Rose Lipman Building in Hackney, east London.

Built in the 1960s, this iconic building is located in the heart of the De Beauvoir Estate and is home to a bustling community of creative businesses and organisations. The Rose Lipman Building isn’t just where we’re based – it’s a vibrant creative hub that inspires how we work and connect with others.

We love the building so much we often host productions and events here – as well as most of our training programmes and workshops.

Rose Lipman Building – Studio 16
De Beauvoir Road
London N1 5SQ
(Some search engines prefer N1 5SF)

We are a 10-minute walk from Haggerston Overground Station.

Nearby bus routes include:
149, 242, 243 – Kingsland Road (Haggerston Station stop)
21, 76, 141 – Southgate Road (Downham Road stop)

Please use the main entrance by Batch Baby, the coffee shop at the Rose Lipman Building on De Beauvoir Road. If you arrive a little early, treat yourself to a coffee – easily the best in East London, if we say so ourselves.

If Batch Baby’s closed, use the side entrance marked Rose Lipman Community Centre – just to the left of the café.

Depending on your visit, you may need to buzz our studio (number 16) or the Function Hall. Our team will be ready to welcome you – just follow the signs and you’ll be in the right place in no time.

We’ve added images to help you spot the two entrances.

The Rose Lipman Building is a charming older space with lots of character. It has step-free access and a lift, as well as accessible toilets on the ground and first floors.

If you have any specific access requirements or questions before your visit, please don’t hesitate to get in touch at team@foreignaffairs.org.uk. We’re happy to help make your visit as comfortable as possible.

stay connected

We usually send out one newsletter a month – unless we’re in the thick of a project, in which case you might hear from us a little more often. It’s a personal update from Camila and Trine, with stories, news, and what’s inspiring us right now.

You can also find us on X, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. While we do share updates there, social media isn’t always our top priority – the newsletter is where we keep things most consistent and personal.

We use both to share upcoming opportunities for theatre-makers and translators – along with new projects, events, and other ways to get involved.

Translation isn’t just part of our work – it shapes our entire creative lens. We’ve collaborated with over 40 translators across 20 languages, staging plays that resonate across borders and perspectives.

Artist Development

From workshops and creative labs to mentoring and coffee chats, we support translators and theatre-makers through hands-on, collaborative training – rooted in care and experimentation.

Collaborators & Partners

From staging new translations to developing ideas with partners or working as an ensemble behind the scenes, collaboration drives how we create, share and evolve.
