We are thrilled to be hosting a Creative Residency as part of PLAYGROUND, a European development programme dedicated to nurturing emerging playwrights and fostering the kind of cross-border collaboration that sits at the very heart of what we do.

For six days, we are welcoming two emerging playwrights, Andreea Tănase (Romania) and Tara Mitrović (Serbia), to London along with members of the PLAYGROUND team. They will be diving into a collaborative laboratory with two UK-based directors and an ensemble of international actors and creatives, exploring the craft of staging plays in translation within our interconnected, cross-cultural world.

PLAYGROUND is coordinated by PAV (Italy) in collaboration with Ariel Children and Youth Theatre (Romania), Euradia (Italy), Heartefact (Serbia), and La Mousson d’été (France), PLAYGROUND is a project co-funded by the European Union.

PLAYGROUND Sharing: New Voices from Romania and Serbia

In association with Jermyn Street Theatre

As part of the residency, we are hosting an informal sharing on Thursday 22 January.

This is a chance for industry professionals, makers, and anyone with a passion for international work to step inside the room with us. We will be sharing script-in-hand readings of:

  • Road Trip by Andreea Tănase, translated by the playwright
  • Quiet Hours from Six to Two by Sofija Dimitrijević, in collaboration with Tara Mitrović, translated by Ivana Đurić Paunović

The readings will be followed by an open discussion with the playwrights, the creative teams, and the PLAYGROUND and Foreign Affairs teams. It is an opportunity to engage directly with new work in a relaxed, collaborative environment, exchanging ideas and experiencing the translation process from the inside out.

Join the Guest List

While this is an invitation-led event for industry peers and collaborators, we always welcome those with a particular interest in international theatre and translation.

Space in the studio is limited, so if you would like to join us on Thursday 22 January (14:30), please get in touch with the team here to request a spot.

Location: Jermyn Street Theatre, SW1Y 6ST

We usually send out one newsletter a month – unless we’re in the thick of a project, in which case you might hear from us a little more often. It’s a personal update from Camila and Trine, with stories, news, and what’s inspiring us right now.

You can also find us on X, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. While we do share updates there, social media isn’t always our top priority – the newsletter is where we keep things most consistent and personal.

We use both to share upcoming opportunities for theatre-makers and translators – along with new projects, events, and other ways to get involved.
