Every month we share our upcoming plans as well as offer insights into our hopes and dreams for the future. We hope you enjoy!

After a busy month, December concluded with a few virtual rehearsals, an impromptu live cook-along, and of course our Winter Solstice celebration. On 23 December we turned on our “out of office” reply, switched off our computers and took a much needed break to celebrate the festive season and to welcome in the new year.

2021 has already had its fair share of challenges, but we’re thankful for being able to continue our work and look forward to our first ever digital Theatre Translation Showcase on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 January, 20:00 GMT (in just a couple of weeks!) To say that we’re excited would be an understatement.

The showcase is the culmination of the fourth edition of our Theatre Translator Mentorship and we’re incredibly proud of the work put in by this year’s mentees, who’ve embraced the digital edition of the programme with both feet in. We can’t wait to present six brand new translations and we’d love for you to join us. You can read all about the showcase here.

We’re also hosting a round-table discussion in the run up to the showcase, which will be live streamed on Facebook on Wednesday 13 January at 13:00 GMT – a perfect lunch-time treat maybe? Joining artistic directors Camila França and Trine Garrett will be this year’s translation team: Charis Ainslie, Paul Russell Garrett and William Gregory, who’ll reflect on the journey of the mentorship since its launch in 2016, and on the highs and lows of this year’s digital edition. Chairing this round-table chat is none other than our dear friend, Daniel Hahn. Not only is he an acclaimed writer, editor and translator, Daniel Hahn, unwittingly inspired our mentoring programme.

So, no changes to our usual January diet, but a menu consisting solely of theatre in translation. We hope that all of our friends and loved ones stay safe and trust that together we can weather the months ahead. Hopefully we’ll be able to enjoy live theatre in the not-so-distant future, and together step into previously untold worlds.
