Every month we share our upcoming plans as well as offer insights into our hopes and dreams for the future. We hope you enjoy!

November (and the second national lock-down) flew by as we did our best to keep ourselves busy. The month was jam-packed with artist development programmes, preparations for upcoming events and funding applications – fingers crossed, please. It was hard not to feel a little sad, though, as this was the first time in the company’s history we didn’t have an autumn production. And as a result, we have started the festive season a fair bit earlier than usual …

We kick off December with the final preparations for our translation showcase in January, and we can’t wait to share six brand new translations with you. The showcase is the conclusion of the fourth – and first digital – edition of our Theatre Translator Mentorship. The digital format has opened up countless possibilities that we hardly could have imagined when we first decided to move the programme online in response to the pandemic. With participants and practitioners joining us from far afield, it has truly been an enriching experience! And so we’ll end this unexpected journey in the Land of Zoom with a Spectacular Digital Translation Showcase. It’s quite a mouthful so we might have to find another title, but you get the idea, hopefully!

This time of year, we normally hold a company party, where we gather in our small basement studio to enjoy seasonal treats with flavours of childhood memories and to celebrate another year gone by. As we can’t get together in person, we thought of throwing a much larger party than we normally do (we can just about fit sixteen in our studio). So this year, we’ll be hosting a virtual Winter Solstice Celebration on Monday 21 December, 20:00 GMT and we would LOVE for you to join us. You can read all about the event and book your ticket here.

Live theatre continues to be on the top of our wishlist and we dream of the day we can safely return to our basement studio to make theatre alongside our ensemble and creative associates. Encouraged by hopeful headlines and midwinter traditions to celebrate that light comes after darkness, we can’t help feel a little more optimistic about the year to come. We’ve started to make tentative plans to make/share/watch live theatre in 2021.

How about you, how are you feeling about 2021? If there is anything you’d like to see from us in the future, connect with us on social media or drop us a line as we’re always happy to meet for a cup of coffee in the Land of Zoom.
