We’re excited to announce casting for the fourth – and first ever digital – edition of our Theatre Translation Showcase, taking place on Zoom Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 January, 20:00 GMT.

The online showcase is the culmination of our Theatre Translator Mentorship – a workshop programme for emerging theatre translators. Each night will include three play readings (20-minute extracts) performed by an international ensemble.

Atilla Akinci

Appearing in Hide & Seek and The Wetsuitman on Thursday 21 January.

Originally from Stuttgart, Atilla Akinci trained at the Müjdat Gezen Conservatoire in Istanbul and at the Oxford School of Drama. Theatre includes Joyce (Sharjah Fringe), Merchant of Venice (CLF Art Cafe), Please Repeat After Me (English Theatre Berlin) and Imaginationship (Finborough Theatre).

Audio includes The Vault (Audible), Journey into Fear (BBC R4), Home Front (BBC R4) and Doctor Who (Big Finish). Screen includes Kismet (Short), Phea (Feature) and Killing Eve (TV).

David Djemal

Appearing in Hide & Seek on Thursday 21 January.

Originally from Jerusalem, David Djemal studied acting at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York and is also a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he graduated from the Musical Theatre Postgraduate programme with distinction. During his studies at the Royal Academy he was awarded First Prize in the HL Hammond Verse Speaking and Poetry Reading competition. Recent credits include Aladdin (The Theatre Chipping Norton), CITIZEN (The Space Theatre), and Scoop (The Rose Playhouse).

Eugenia Low

Appearing in Black Swans, Ladies and Speak Quietly, Or I'll Scream on Wednesday 20 January.

Eugenia joined the Foreign Affairs ensemble after performing in Translation Showcase Vol. 2. She recently played billionaire poker player Madam Wu in Secret Cinema’s Casino Royale and R2-D2 in The Show Must Go Online’s OnComm award winning William Shakespeare’s Star Wars. She also works regularly with cue-script performance company Shakescene Shakespeare. Screen credits include feature films Goodbye Mary and Anonymous, short films Healthy and Unseen, web series Sofa Shakespeare and BBC Radio 4’s audio drama Quake.

Ian Attard

Appearing in Speak Quietly, Or I'll Scream on Wednesday 20 January and Thirst on Thursday 21 January.

Ian trained at Rose Bruford. Theatre includes: The Prize - 24 Hour Plays (Old Vic), Richard III (Haymarket), Shiv (Curve), Almost, Maine (Park Theatre), Skyscraper (Public Theater, NY), Hannah (Unicorn), Macbeth (Worcester Rep), American Clock (BAC), The Woman in Black (PW Productions, No.1 Tour) and Goosebumps: Alive (The Vaults)

Film and TV includes: Strike (BBC), Belgravia (ITV), Cobra (Sky), Black Mirror (C4), The Gamechangers (BBC), Youth (Pathe) and The Kill Team (A24).

Irene Panni

Appearing in Thirst, Hide & Seek and The Wetsuitman on Thursday 21 January.

Originally from Italy, Irene Panni trained at the American Musical Theatre Academy in London and then with Scott Williams at the Impulse Company. She joined the Foreign Affairs ensemble after performing in the company's first Translation Showcase in 2016 and she has since performed in their productions of The Unburied and The Warmhouse. Her other theatre credits include Split Ends (Cockpit Theatre), The Right to Destroy Myself (Central Saint Martins) and most recently, in Italy, Felliniland (Officina Anacoleti).

Krzysia Balińska

Appearing in Ladies and Speak Quietly, Or I'll Scream on Wednesday 20 January.

Krzysia Balinska is a London based Polish actor trained in Meisner technique and drama facilitator with experience in theatre-making, facilitation, and organising. Her practice stems from the belief that everyone is an artist and everyone can inspire a lasting, positive change. She is the co-founder of the Polish feminist collective Dziewuchy London, project manager at Polish Migrants Organise for Change (POMOC) and co-facilitator at Good Wolf People, Foreign Affairs theatre company, and PSYCHEdelight theatre.

Megan Smith

Appearing in Black Swans and Ladies on Wednesday 20 January.

This year, Megan’s film, Best Friends, won awards at the Lit Laugh International and Houston Comedy Film Festivals and was shortlisted for Funny Women. Megan’s play Bourne was performed at The Vault Festival in March and her latest comedy play Two Birds, was short-listed for the Pint Sized Play Award. Theatre credits also include: Pinocchio (Strike a Light) and The Unburied (Foreign Affairs). TV and radio credits include: Sketchy as F**k (BBC comedy pilot) and Sketchorama (BBC Radio 4).

Sammy Attalah

Appearing in Hide & Seek and The Wetsuitman on Thursday 21 January.

Sammy is a Mountview graduate who has been working on stage and most recently performed at The Actors Centre as part of the Latin American Season, which he also co-curated with his company Untold Collectiv, bringing 23 Latinx shows to life. He’s excited to take part in the translation showcase.
