: what we do

theatre beyond borders

Foreign Affairs is an east London-based theatre company that focuses on translation and international cultural exchange and collaboration.

Working with a multinational ensemble and creative team, we bring stories from around the globe into unconventional spaces. Our shows are dynamic, engaging and visceral, always placing the audience experience at the heart of what we do.

Rooted in a collaborative approach, we work with international playwrights and translators to bring award-winning world drama to English-speaking audiences with an eye to exploring topical social and political issues.

: who we are

growing through encounter

Foreign Affairs is led by founders and co-artistic directors, Camila França (Brazil) and Trine Garrett (Denmark).

We’re passionate about making theatre that explores what it means to be human beyond our own experiences, discovering and exploring new voices and viewpoints.

We’re committed to facilitating a space where people from all walks of life can come together to learn about the world we co-inhabit, through theatre that is brave, vulnerable and playful.

Through all of our work we aim to challenge social, cultural and artistic boundaries. We believe in theatre as a space for everyone.

We believe that theatre can inspire change.
